
Goretti Sheridan
Goretti is a native of Co. Donegal. She joined An Garda Síochána in August 1993. She worked as a Garda in various roles in Dublin for 10 years. She subsequently spent 9 years as a Sergeant in Tallaght working in Community Policing and on a Drug Unit. She spent 6 years as an Inspector in Letterkenny. She was promoted to Superintendent in 2019 and has spent time as District Officer in Castlerea, Sligo, Buncrana, and is now in charge of the Letterkenny District.
She has a BSc in Computing, Professional Certificate in Corporate Governance, Postgraduate Diplomas in Serious Crime Investigation and Leadership in Policing. She also has a MA in Criminology.
Goretti has always had an avid interest in promoting inclusivity and diversity in An Garda Síochána and is the Chairperson of the North-Western Region Women’s Network. Goretti is also a Council Member to the 30% Club representing An Garda Síochána. She is a member of the Menopause Steering Committee and was involved in developing An Garda Síochána’s Menopause Guidance Document which was launched in February 2023. Goretti has presented on “Supporting Women in the Workplace during Menopause” within the organisation.
